Easy mode: Arch + Hyprland + Hyde

Easy mode: Arch + Hyprland + Hyde

This is mostly a PSA because things are much easier than they once were before.

  1. ARCH is hard to install and configure! WRONG – Arch is no longer hard to install. There's a nice install wizard that you can now use: Run archinstall when you're installing the OS.
    1. You can install Hyprland as part of the installer (easy!)
    2. to log into Hyprland, you need to start in TTY mode (ctrl + alt + F4) if you've configured a UI login (maybe you installed Plasma too like I did)
    3. FYI: I installed Arch by putting the disk image on a USB stick and loading it via the bootloader
  2. ❌ HYPERLAND is hard to install configure: WRONG – if you want a nice setup to try Hyprland already configured then install the [Hyde project](https://github.com/HyDE-Project/HyDE)
    1. once you've installed Hyde, CMD + / shows you shortcuts.
    2. You can configure hotkeys in ~/.config/hypr/keybindings.conf
    3. run hydectl reload to refresh stuff if needed
    4. there's also Archcraft Hyprland that is worth looking at if you don't like Hyde

Here's a good install guide for Arch:
